- The Texas A&M Aggies basketball team in College Station, Texas played its first match in 1912.
- The name "Aggies" comes from the agricultural ("ag") nature of the early university.
- The team plays in the Big 12 NCAA Division I Conference.
- The Aggies have made 9 NCAA Tournament appearances, including recent appearances in 2006, 2007 and 2008. They won the former Southwest Conference in 1980 and 1987.
- Prominent past players include John Beasley, R.C. Buford, Walt Davis, Sonny Parker and Antoine Wright.
- The team plays in Reed Arena, which can hold 12,500 spectators.
- The team's colors are maroon and white and and its mascot (viewable on the Victor E. Van TAMU stickers) is a pure-bred collie named Reveille.
